Our Team

Dr. Azalia Boyd

Medical Director, Co-owner

Dr. Azalia Boyd is a highly experienced veterinarian and clinical leader known for pairing medical excellence with empathy, clarity, and trust. A proud graduate of Tuskegee University School of Veterinary Medicine, she brings over 16 years of clinical experience across emergency medicine, urgent care, surgery, dentistry, and comprehensive wellness care.

Throughout her career, Dr. Boyd has served in senior leadership roles, including Medical Director and Chief Veterinary Medical Officer, where she led medical teams, guided standards of care, mentored clinicians, and helped shape thoughtful, people-centered systems of veterinary practice. Her leadership is grounded in accountability, sound medical judgment, and respect for both patients and professionals.

Dr. Boyd is known for her ability to make confident, high-level medical decisions while remaining fully present with clients. She believes true medical excellence requires not only technical expertise, but the ability to listen, explain, and guide people through complex or emotional decisions with honesty and compassion.

Beyond the clinic, Dr. Boyd has spoken professionally in the United States, Canada, and South America, including presentations at veterinary schools, professional conferences, and appearances on podcasts and radio programs. In her free time, she enjoys hosting the Critters and Cultures podcast, traveling, and spending time with her partner, their children, and their American Bulldog, Doobie.

Her professional philosophy is guided by a simple standard: medical excellence without ego, leadership with integrity, and care that honors both the animal and the person who loves them.

Richard Saturday

Hospital Manager, Co-owner

Richard's connection to veterinary medicine started early — at 12 years old, working alongside his mother in a veterinary clinic. Three decades later, that foundation has grown into a career defined by operational leadership, team building, and a deep understanding of what makes a veterinary practice run well. He has managed every facet of hospital operations, from scheduling and client experience to financial systems, compliance, and staff development. Richard has also guided practices through major transitions, including the shift from independent to corporate ownership — experience that gives him a clear perspective on why Legacy's independent model matters. His role at Legacy is simple but essential: to make sure the hospital's day-to-day operations reflect the same care, intention, and integrity that drive the medicine. Outside of work, Richard stays active on the trails, plays soccer with his kids, and spends time with his two dogs, Drake and Ross.

Andrew

Veterinary Assistant

Signature Strength: Feline Care Lead aka "Cat-Daddy Drew"

Andrew joined Legacy Veterinary Hospital in 2026 as our Lead Veterinary Assistant, bringing with him a wide range of experience across general practice, emergency care, specialty care, and pet nutrition. Since beginning his journey in animal care at 19, Andrew has remained deeply committed to supporting both patients and their families with compassion, attentiveness, and skill.

Known around Legacy as the “Cat Daddy,” Andrew has a natural ability to connect with feline patients, creating a calm and trusting environment even for the most nervous cats. His love for animals is evident in every interaction, and he plays a key role in ensuring our patients feel safe, cared for, and understood.

At home, Andrew enjoys spending time with his three cats—Gabby, Dickie, and Tootie—and in his free time, he loves cooking.
